The Red Sea

Acrylic on canvas

48"x 24"

Scripture reference: Exodus 14:13-31

At the Red Sea, the Israelites were franked between the hot pursuit of the Egyptians army and the Sea. In fear, they cried to God. Moses assured them: "Fear not. Stand still. Today you will see the salvation of God. You will see the Egyptians no more...forever. God will fight for you. Hold your peace." God dramatically parted the Red Sea and led His people to cross on dry ground safely to the other side.

In this painting, the imagery of the sea of  red roses represents the Israelites. God has chosen them to  represent Him. Despite His unrelentless love for them, they remain rebellious with unbelief. They were saved earlier by the covering of the Passover blood of the lamb. The crossing of the Red Sea is  symbolic of how the blood of the Lamb of God, Jesus, Who came as one of them, yet they asked to crucify Him, would died, shed His blood to atone for the salvation of all men from the bondage of sins.
